Human Pancreatic Epithelial Cells are isolated from healthy pancreatic tissue and constitute a vital component of the mature pancreas, which features an intricate, branching tubular epithelial network predominantly serving exocrine functions. As the pancreatic epithelium differentiates during late gestation, acinar cells mature at the branch tips, while ductal and endocrine progenitors emerge in the branch stalks. Through delamination, endocrine cells break away from their neighboring epithelial cells and come together to form islets. Simultaneously, the remaining tubular epithelium gives rise to ductal branches.
