The IGR-1 cell line is derived from a metastatic melanoma tumor in a 42-year-old male’s groin lymph node. These cells exhibit tumorigenic characteristics in nude mice and harbor a heterozygous BRAFV600K mutation, while remaining wild type with respect to BRAFV600E. In culture, IGR-1 cells present as adherent, epithelial-like cells, growing in monolayers with dendritic branching until they reach confluence. Upon contact inhibition, they assume a smooth and round morphology. Subculturing of these cells is typically performed at a ratio of 1:3 to 1:5 every 3-5 days using trypsin/EDTA.- ONLINE INQUIRY
