Description

Human Pulmonary Artery Endothelial Cells (HPAEC) are primary endothelial cells isolated from the intimal layer of large pulmonary arteries from healthy human donors. These cells display a classic cobblestone morphology and adherent growth, and are cryopreserved at early passage to retain physiological functionality. HPAECs express endothelial markers including CD31 (PECAM-1), von Willebrand factor (vWF), and VE-cadherin, and exhibit robust internalization of acetylated LDL and binding to Ulex europaeus agglutinin I—confirming their identity as vascular endothelial cells. These cells exhibit intact barrier function and respond to inflammatory and hypoxic stimuli, making them ideal for modeling pulmonary vascular homeostasis. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Human Pulmonary Artery Endothelial Cells (HPAEC) which correspond to primary human lung arterial endothelium, serve as an essential model system for investigating pulmonary hypertension, endothelial dysfunction, and vascular inflammation. Their ability to regulate vascular permeability and interact with smooth muscle cells makes them invaluable for studying disease mechanisms and therapeutic interventions. HPAEC are widely used in drug screening, angiogenesis assays, and modeling pathological conditions such as hypoxia-induced arterial remodeling and inflammatory stress responses.
