C57BL/6 Mouse Thymus Epithelial Cells are primary epithelial cells isolated from the thymus tissue of pathogen-free newborn C57BL/6 mice. These cells exhibit polygonal morphology with adherent growth an. As a key structural component of the thymic microenvironment, thymus epithelial cells (TECs) support the development and positive/negative selection of T lymphocytes by producing cytokines, chemokines, self-antigens, and extracellular matrix proteins. These cells express key markers like Foxn1 and MHC II, confirming their thymic epithelial identity. They are non-immortalized, retain a normal diploid karyotype, maintaining physiological relevance in vitro. Typically cryopreserved at early passages. Due to their role in shaping central immune tolerance, these cells are widely used to model autoimmune disorders, thymic involution, and T cell repertoire selection in research.

C57BL/6 mouse primary thymus epithelial cell are a useful model to investigate thymic activities, including hormone secretion and thymocyte development. Thymus epithelial cells also express MHC class II molecules surface MHC class II molecules, involved in antigen presentation during immune responses. Considering the tight connection with thymocytes, TECs can be used in the research of immune system, such as identification of modulators in thymocyte development. For example, androgen receptor was identified in the immunohistochemical analysis and hormone-binding assay of thymic epithelial cells. C57BL/6 mouse primary thymus epithelial cells can also be used in some interesting trials, such as assessing resistance to ionizing radiation.
