Mouse C3H/An sc areolar and adipose tissue. Derivative of NCTC clone 929 obtained by progressive selection in BUdR, has a cloning efficiency of 70-80%.
B82 is a murine fibroblast cell line originally derived from the areolar and adipose tissue of C3H/An mice. It is a subline of NCTC clone 929, selected through progressive exposure to bromodeoxyuridine (BUdR). B82 cells exhibit classic spindle-shaped fibroblast morphology and grow as adherent monolayers under standard culture conditions. Cytogenetic analysis reveals a pseudodiploid karyotype with mild chromosomal instability. B82 cells are not tumorigenic in vivo but are highly susceptible to oncogenic transformation and are widely used in studies involving RAS signaling and muscarinic receptor (M2) transfection. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

B82 cells are widely used as a versatile platform for evaluating gene expression, oncogene activation, and stable cell line development. Their high cloning efficiency and responsiveness to chemical or genetic transformation make them valuable in signal transduction research, DNA repair assays, and carcinogen screening. Additionally, they serve as host cells for transfection and selection of receptor constructs or reporter genes in pharmacological and functional genomics studies.
