H9c2 (2-1) Cell Line from AcceGen, a rat BDIX heart myoblast model with skeletal muscle traits, used in cardiac biology, differentiation, and toxicology.
H9c2 (2-1) is a subclone of a rat embryonic cardiomyoblast cell line derived from BD1X rat heart tissue. It exhibits myoblast-like morphology, adherent growth, and can differentiate into muscle-like cells under specific conditions. H9c2 cells display skeletal muscle characteristics yet retain the potential to adopt a cardiac muscle phenotype under defined experimental conditions, for example, upon induction with retinoic acid or other reagents. They express myokinase, creatine phosphokinase, and myosin. H9c2 (2-1) is widely used in cardiovascular research, particularly for modeling myocardial toxicity, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

H9c2 (2-1) cells are widely used as a cardiomyoblast model in cardiac physiology, oxidative stress, and drug cardiotoxicity research. They provide a reliable system to study myocardial energy metabolism, hypertrophy, and ischemia-reperfusion injury. Their responsiveness to hormonal and pharmacological stimuli makes them ideal for cardiovascular drug discovery.
