HS-695T was isolated in 1973 from the lymph node metastasis of an amelanotic melanoma by A. Creasey et al.
HS-695T cells are derived from a lymph node metastasis of amelanotic melanoma. These cells exhibit an epithelial morphology and grow as a tightly adherent monolayer. HS-695T cells have a modal chromosome number of 52 and retain the Y chromosome. The cells are tumorigenic in immunosuppressed mice. Due to these properties, this cell line serves as a valuable model for investigating melanoma metastasis, tumor differentiation, and therapeutic responses in preclinical cancer research. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.
