Organism: Homo sapiens, human; Tissue: muscle; Disease: rhabdomyosarcoma
HS-729 is a human embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma cell line originally isolated from the muscle tissue of a 74-year-old Caucasian male patient with rhabdomyosarcoma. It exhibits a fibroblast-like morphology and grows as an adherent monolayer in culture, typical of soft tissue tumor cell lines. This line harbors a TP53 p.His179Arg homozygous mutation. It is tumorigenic as a malignant sarcoma model and widely used to investigate molecular mechanisms of soft tissue cancer development. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

HS-729 cell line is used primarily as an in vitro model for embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma research, enabling studies of tumor cell proliferation, cell-cell adhesion alterations, and cancer-relevant signaling. They are applied in pharmacogenomic and drug sensitivity assays to evaluate the impact of genetic backgrounds on therapeutic responses and in investigations of molecular pathways driving sarcoma pathogenesis.
