Description

Human Lymphatic Endothelial Cells (HLECs) are primary cells isolated from human dermal or pulmonary lymphatic vessels and cultured to maintain their physiological function in vitro. These primary endothelial cells form a single-layered lining within lymphatic capillaries and collecting vessels, playing critical roles in fluid homeostasis, immune cell trafficking, and lipid absorption. These cells display a characteristic cobblestone morphology in monolayer culture and express hallmark lymphatic marker CD31 confirmed by immunofluorescence. HLECs respond robustly to lymphangiogenic signals such as VEGF C/VEGFR 3, forming tube-like structures in 3D Matrigel assays. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • HLECs serve as a powerful in vitro platform for studying lymphatic biology and disease mechanisms. They enable researchers to investigate lymphangiogenesis, lymphatic permeability, and immune cell transmigration. They are especially useful in cancer studies exploring how tumors exploit VEGF C/VEGFR 3 pathways for lymphatic metastasis, as well as in anti-lymphangiogenic drug screening assays. Their human origin ensures greater translational relevance compared to animal-derived models, making them ideal for preclinical research.
