HMBECs offer a biologically relevant platform for studying basal cell behavior, mammary gland development, and disease modeling. They are ideal for investigating epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, basal-to-luminal differentiation, and basement membrane signaling pathways. Additionally, they support research into basal-like breast cancer biology—in which CK5/14 and p63 expression are hallmarks of aggressive, therapy-resistant subtypes. These cells are also suitable for screening modulators of basal epithelial function and for evaluating regenerative therapeutics.
