Description

Porcine Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells (PPASMC) are primary smooth muscle cells isolated from the tunica media of healthy, fibrous plaque-free swine pulmonary arteries. These cells are collected from normal vascular tissue under sterile conditions and cryopreserved at early passage to retain contractile phenotype and viability. They display spindle-shaped morphology and exhibit adherent growth in vitro. Functionally, they regulate pulmonary vascular tone, extracellular matrix remodeling, and contribute to vascular inflammation and remodeling under hypoxic conditions. These cells express α-smooth muscle actin, calponin, and SM22α. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • PPASMC are essential tools in pulmonary and cardiovascular research, enabling in vitro studies of smooth muscle contractility, hypoxia-induced remodeling, and inflammatory signaling. They support modeling of pulmonary hypertension, vascular stiffening, and airway remodeling associated with chronic lung diseases. These cells are also valuable for screening anti-proliferative and vasodilatory agents targeting abnormal smooth muscle activity in pulmonary vasculopathies, contributing to drug discovery and mechanistic studies of vascular pathogenesis.
