Granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF) is a growth factor and essential cytokine belonging to the CSF family of hormone-like glycoproteins. G-CSF has been reported to prevent left ventricular remodeling by reducing cardiomyocyte death and increasing vascularization, suggesting that its cardioprotective effects may involve direct actions on the myocardium rather than solely relying on stem cell mobilization and differentiation.
