The whole blood is aseptically collected and prepared to order from our colony of animals.
Sheep Red Blood Cells (SRBC) are isolated from the peripheral blood of healthy adult sheep. They appear as biconcave discs in suspension, typical of mature erythrocytes. Sheep Red Blood Cells function primarily in carrying oxygen from the lungs to tissues and carbon dioxide back and are widely used in immunology research for studying antibody production, complement activation, and phagocytosis. They express characteristic sheep erythrocyte surface antigens and lack nuclear DNA. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Sheep Red Blood Cells can be used as an in vitro model to study immune responses and pathogenesis in conditions such as hemolytic anemia and immunodeficiency. For example, by investigating the molecular pathways of antibody-mediated hemolysis and complement activation, they provide a better understanding of red blood cell immune interactions and pathological changes, aiding in exploring diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for immune-related hematological disorders.
