Firefly luciferase is a protein with a molecular weight of approximately 61 kDa. In the presence of ATP, magnesium ions, and oxygen, it catalyzes the oxidation of luciferin to oxyluciferin, emitting bioluminescence at a wavelength of approximately 560 nm.
