Chicken Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells are suitable for vascular biology studies, smooth muscle signaling, and vessel remodeling research in avian systems.
Chicken Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells (CASMCs) are isolated from the thoracic aorta of healthy chickens and are primarily composed of spindle-shaped smooth muscle cells. These cells are cryopreserved at early passages to maintain their phenotypic stability. CASMCs display the classic contractile phenotype in vitro, with expression of alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (SM-MHC). CASMCs play essential roles in vascular contractility, elasticity, and extracellular matrix production. Research has demonstrated that chicken smooth muscle cells share conserved regulatory mechanisms with mammalian systems. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Chicken Aortic Smooth Muscle Cells offer a robust model for investigating vascular smooth muscle physiology, arterial calcification, and the cellular response to pro-inflammatory stimuli, providing a valuable system for studying chicken smooth muscle cellular biology. They are especially useful in comparative biology for understanding species-dependent mechanisms in vascular development, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. CASMCs are also essential for studying vascular smooth muscle cell phenotypic switching between contractile and synthetic states.
