COLO-738 cell line is a human cancer model widely used in oncology research for studying tumor biology, drug testing, and genomic profiling.
COLO-738 cell line is derived from the pleural fluid of a patient who suffered with malignant fibrous histiocytoma, commonly classified as undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (UPS) under modern pathology standards. COLO-738 is also referred to as MFHL-2 in some literature. COLO-738 cells display an adherent growth pattern with a morphology characteristic of fibroblast-like cells. These cells demonstrate aggressive proliferative capacity, invasive behavior, and potential for extracellular matrix remodeling, reflecting their tumorigenic nature. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

COLO-738 has a wide range of application value in the exploration of molecular mechanisms of soft tissue tumors and the development of anti-tumor drugs. This cell line is mainly used to study the biological characteristics of malignant fibrous histiocytoma, including the proliferation, invasion, and migration mechanisms of tumor cells. Because it has both fibroblast and tissue cell characteristics, COLO-738 provides an ideal model for tumor microenvironment research and can be used to explore tumor-stroma interactions and immune escape mechanisms. COLO-738 supports studies on tumor biology and molecular mechanisms in vitro.
