This gene encodes a member of the peptidase S10 family of serine carboxypeptidases. This enzyme possesses deamidase, esterase and carboxypeptidase activities and acts as a scaffold in the lysosomal multienzyme complex. Mutations in this gene are associated with galactosialidosis.
