DX3 cell line is a human cutaneous melanoma cell line. It was originally isolated from a metastatic lymph node of a patient with advanced cutaneous melanoma. This cell line demonstrates adherent growth properties in culture. Molecular characterization reveals that DX3 cells express specific receptors, including FGFR1 and PDGFRβ. They are tumorigenic but typically exhibit a relatively low propensity for metastasis in athymic nude mice. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

DX3 cells serve as a valuable metastatic melanoma model, providing a platform for studies of therapy resistance mechanisms and cancer invasive pathways. They enable essential in vitro targeted drug screening procedures and support detailed quantitative metastasis analysis. This cellular system facilitates advanced 3D spheroid-based tumor invasion modeling techniques alongside critical testing of immune checkpoint modulators. These capabilities support in vitro evaluation of potential therapeutic strategies for advanced melanoma.
