Human Retinal Stem Cell; Frozen Vial and Plated cells are available.
HighQC™ Human Retinal Stem Cells (hRSCs) are endogenously derived stem-like cells of the peripheral retina. These cells exhibit bipolar or radial morphology, adhere to defined serum-free substrates, and proliferate while retaining multipotent potential. Studies have confirmed their expression of progenitor markers including PAX6, VSX2 (Chx10), and NESTIN. These human eye-derived stem cells maintain stable karyotypes during early expansion and retain gene expression profiles indicative of neuroepithelial progenitors, offering a physiologically relevant model for retinal developmental studies. They demonstrate the capacity to differentiate into multiple retinal lineages, including photoreceptors and Müller glia, under appropriate inductive cues. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

HighQC™ hRSCs are ideal for modeling retinal neurogenesis, photoreceptor differentiation, and congenital retinal disorders such as retinitis pigmentosa and age-related macular degeneration. Their responsiveness to developmental cues enables in vitro assays of retinal lineage specification, drug screening for neuroprotective agents, and evaluation of gene therapy vectors targeting retinal stem/progenitor compartments. These cells serve as a valuable bridge between pluripotent stem models and adult retinal tissue studies.
