Description

Human HIV Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells are a heterogeneous population of immune cells isolated from the peripheral blood of HIV-infected patients, mainly including lymphocytes (such as T cells, B cells, NK cells) and monocytes.Typical round mononuclear lymphocytes and monocytes; suspension culture; non-adherent. PBMCs play an important role in immune response: T cells mediate cellular immunity, B cells produce antibodies, and monocytes differentiate into macrophages or dendritic cells to participate in antigen presentation . HIV infection destroys CD4+ T cell function, leading to immunodeficiency, and then triggering acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) .HIV infection causes progressive depletion and dysfunction of CD4+ T cells, resulting in immunodeficiency and development of AIDS. PBMCs act as reservoirs for latent and active virus.

Application

  • Human HIV Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells can be used as an in vitro cell model to study viral pathogenic mechanisms. They can also be used to analyze HIV-specific T cell responses, including the killing activity of CD8+ T cells and CD4+ T cell dysfunction. Besides, these cells can be applied to study the role of B cell antibody production and monocyte-derived antigen presenting cells in HIV infection.
