Fetal human placental epithelial cells are well-suited for studies in developmental biology, regenerative medicine, and immunomodulation. They provide an in vitro platform to explore epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) processes. They also serve as a critical tool in wound healing assays and in screening agents that either protect epithelial integrity or influence trophoblast differentiation. Their non tumorigenic yet progenitor-like nature also makes them valuable for safety assessments in placental transplantation and drug delivery research.
