Description

Human Placental Epithelial Cells (hPlEpC), Neonatal are isolated from the inner amniotic membrane of full-term neonatal placentae. These primary epithelial cells display classic cuboidal morphology and adhere tightly in monolayer cultures. They express definitive placental epithelial markers cytokeratin 7 and cytokeratin 18. Neonatal placental epithelial cells secrete bioactive factors like glycodelin (PAEP) and placental alkaline phosphatase (PLAP/ALPP), which contribute to immune modulation and the maintenance of maternal–fetal tolerance. They are cryopreserved at an early passage, have a limited proliferative capacity and are not intended for indefinite passaging. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Neonatal human placental epithelial cells serve as a powerful in vitro system for studying placental barrier functions, cytokine production, and host–microbe interactions. Researchers have leveraged these cells to explore trophoblast-mediated immune tolerance, viral receptor expression, and therapeutic compound screening in diseases such as preeclampsia and congenital infection. Their secretion profiles also make them valuable in regenerative medicine and toxicity testing of placental-targeted drugs.
