Description

Human Prostate Smooth Muscle Cells (HPrSMC) are primary cells derived from the smooth muscle layer of normal adult human prostate tissue. These cells are isolated under sterile conditions and cryopreserved at early passage to maintain viability and characteristic smooth muscle marker expression. They exhibit elongated spindle-shaped morphology and grow as adherent monolayers. Prostate smooth muscle cells are involved in stromal–epithelial interactions and exhibit androgen responsiveness in vivo. They express smooth muscle-specific markers including α-SMA, calponin, and SM22α. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

  • HPrSMC are valuable for studying prostate stromal-epithelial interactions, androgen signaling, and smooth muscle contractility. They serve as in vitro models for investigating benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostate fibrosis, and smooth muscle–related pathology. HPrSMC are also applied in drug screening to assess compounds that target prostate tissue tone, stromal remodeling, or hormonal response, supporting research in urological disease mechanisms and prostate health.
