Human prostatic hyperplasia cells originate from the prostatic epithelial cells of a 68-year-old male with benign prostatic hyperplasia. They were immortalized using SV-40 large T-antigen. According to literature, these cells express cytokeratins 8, 18, and 19 and metabolizes androgen in the prostate.
