IST-MELA 16 is a human metastatic melanoma tumor cell line originally established from a subcutaneous metastasis of a melanoma patient. It exhibits epithelial-like morphology and grows as adherent monolayers under standard culture conditions. This line is documented in melanoma cell line collections as originating from a metastatic lesion, making it a representative model of advanced human cutaneous melanoma. IST MEL3 cell line is widely used to model aggressive tumor behavior and to investigate disease progression mechanisms in melanoma.
