IST-MELA 16 is a human metastatic melanoma tumor cell line originally established from a subcutaneous metastasis of a melanoma patient. It exhibits epithelial-like morphology and grows as adherent monolayers under standard culture conditions. This line is documented in melanoma cell line collections as originating from a metastatic lesion, making it a representative model of advanced human cutaneous melanoma. IST MEL3 cell line is widely used to model aggressive tumor behavior and to investigate disease progression mechanisms in melanoma. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

IST-MELA 16 cells are used as an in vitro model of human metastatic melanoma for investigating tumor cell proliferation, metastatic signaling pathways, and mechanisms of immune escape associated with advanced melanoma. They support research into drug response profiling, immunotherapy target studies, and translational melanoma biology relevant to metastatic disease.
