L-138 antibody-producing cells react with M-24 antigen on human melanocytes, confirmed by PCR, and are applicable in melanoma diagnostics and research.
L-138 is a mouse hybridoma cell line derived from cutaneous melanoma. This cell line produces a monoclonal antibody specific for the M-24 antigen, which is expressed on human melanocytes. L-138 cells exhibit typical hybridoma morphology—large, round to oval-shaped cells with a prominent nucleus—and grow in suspension with some semi-adherent clusters. The line is known for high antibody secretion and stable proliferation under selective medium containing HAT (hypoxanthine-aminopterin-thymidine). Species origin has been confirmed as mouse via real-time PCR. This hybridoma produces a monoclonal immunoglobulin of the IgG1 subclass. L-138 is ideal for monoclonal antibody generation and downstream immunoassay development. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

L-138 is widely used in monoclonal antibody research and production, especially for identifying and targeting melanocyte-specific antigens such as M-24. This hybridoma-derived antibody is suitable for immunohistochemistry, ELISA, Western blotting, and related immunodetection applications. The cell line’s high productivity and stable phenotype make it suitable for long-term antibody production and hybridoma screening applications.
