L5178-S(LY-S) is an X-ray resistant lymphoma cell line ideal for radiation studies, chemotherapy resistance, and drug screening in cancer research.
L5178‑S (LY‑S) is a murine T‑cell lymphoma cell line derived from the X-ray sensitive variant of L5178-R, which originates from methylcholanthrene-induced thymic lymphoma in a DBA/2 mouse. These lymphoblast cells grow in suspension and are sensitive to X-rays, ultraviolet radiation, heat, and certain chemotherapeutic agents such as cis-platinum compounds. Tumorigenicity is observed in DBA/2 mice, though generally weak. The line serves as a standard model for radiation response comparisons with L5178‑Y‑R. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

L5178‑S (LY‑S) is widely used in radiation biology, DNA damage and repair studies, chemotherapy resistance research, and drug screening assays, including apoptosis regulation, cell cycle checkpoint analysis, oxidative stress responses, and molecular pathways underlying radiosensitivity. It provides a comparative model for radiosensitivity studies alongside the X-ray resistant L5178‑Y‑R line and supports investigations into genotoxicity, mutagenicity, and lymphoid cancer mechanisms.
