Description

Porcine Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells are derived from the brain tissue of healthy pigs and cryopreserved after primary culture. They express markers including von Willebrand factor (vWF), CD34, CD146, and VEGF receptors. These cells play a central role in forming the blood-brain barrier (BBB) and are critical for in vitro models investigating BBB function, drug transport, and vascular permeability. Due to limited proliferation capacity, they should not be exposed to repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • Porcine Brain Microvascular Endothelial Cells are essential for blood-brain barrier (BBB) research, providing an in vitro model to study brain endothelial function, drug transport, and neurovascular permeability. These cells are used in drug screening for CNS delivery, as well as in neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative disease studies. They also support research into tight junction integrity and leukocyte transmigration across the BBB.
