PPVEC are widely used in vascular and pulmonary research to explore endothelial barrier function, cell-cell adhesion, and responses to inflammatory stimuli. These cells provide an in vitro model for studying venous remodeling, thrombosis, and pulmonary vein–associated pathologies such as pulmonary veno-occlusive disease. PPVEC are also suitable for evaluating compounds targeting endothelial activation, permeability regulation, and vascular inflammation in respiratory and cardiovascular disease models.
