SLVL (VL51) is a human B-cell lymphoma cell line derived from the spleen of a middle-aged female patient diagnosed with splenic lymphoma with circulating villous lymphocytes. The cells exhibit a lymphocyte-like morphology with partial adherence. They grow under standard conditions (37°C, 5% CO₂) in RPMI-1640 medium supplemented with 10% FBS. SLVL cells display a committed B-cell immunophenotype, expressing CD10, CD19, CD20, and surface immunoglobulins, while maintaining monoclonality confirmed by IgH and TCRβ gene rearrangements. These cells are EBNA-positive, indicating transformation by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). They are negative for HIV-1/2, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi, ensuring biosafety. Cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen and typically shipped on dry ice, SLVL cells are ideal for research into leukemogenesis, B-cell malignancies, and splenic lymphoma pathogenesis.

SLVL (VL51) cells have important roles in elucidating the leukemogenesis of SLVL and diagnosing B-cell disorders. They aid in understanding the underlying mechanisms of splenic lymphoma with circulating villous lymphocytes and uncovering genetic and molecular alterations driving disease. Additionally, the hematological, immunophenotypic, and genomic features of SLVL cells help diagnose and classify various B-cell disorders. By analyzing these cells, researchers gain insights into disease progression, potential therapeutic targets, and refined diagnostic strategies.
