Description

The nucleus pulposus is a milky white, translucent, gel-like substance that is elastic and serves as a part of the intervertebral disc structure, located between the two cartilage endplates and the annulus fibrosus. It is composed of an elastic jelly-like material formed by a crisscross fibrous network structure, which includes chondrocytes and a proteoglycan mucoid matrix.
