Explore Turkey Red Blood Cells for immunoassay calibration, blood compatibility testing, and erythrocyte-based diagnostic system applications.
Turkey Red Blood Cells are isolated from the peripheral blood of healthy adult turkeys. Cryopreserved immediately after separation from plasma via centrifugation, these cells exhibit an oval, biconcave morphology and exist in suspension, with no capacity for passaging as they are non-nucleated. They function primarily in carrying oxygen from the lungs to tissues and facilitating carbon dioxide removal, and are widely used in immunological assays and studies on avian hematology, including anemia and viral infections like turkey herpesvirus. They express surface antigens specific to avian erythrocytes and lack nuclear DNA. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Turkey Red Blood Cells can be used as an in vitro model to study immune reactions and hemolytic mechanisms in conditions such as avian malaria and autoimmune hemolytic anemia. For example, by investigating the molecular pathways of complement-mediated lysis and antibody binding, they provide a better understanding of red blood cell immune responses and pathological changes, aiding in exploring diagnostic tools and treatments for related disorders.
