The cells were established following transfection of primary porcine alveolar macrophage cultures with the pSV3neo plasmid.
The 3D4 cell line underwent single-cell cloning and selection in the presence of G-418 to obtain the 3D4/2, 3D4/21, and 3D4/31 clones. These three clones exhibit varying levels of nonspecific esterase activity and phagocytosis, with specific activities dependent on the medium formulation.
