AK-D is a feline lung-derived line susceptible to feline herpes and picornaviruses, valuable for respiratory virus infection and feline virology studies.
AK-D were derived by of mass cultures of foetal feline lung after 14 passages in vitro. Susceptible to panleukopenia, feline herpes and feline picornaviruses.

These cells are generally recommended for use within 20–30 passages after initial recovery to ensure consistent growth characteristics and reproducible experimental results. At very high passage numbers, genetic stability and cellular morphology may begin to drift.
