Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts from are isolated from day 13 mouse embryos of pathogen-free laboratory mice.
BALB/c Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts (MEFs) are isolated from the embryos of BALB/c mice and expanded under controlled conditions. These spindle-shaped, adherent cells exhibit a fibroblastic morphology and serve as a supportive stromal population in embryonic tissue. MEFs are mitotically active and express mesenchymal markers such as vimentin and fibronectin. They are commonly used as feeder layers for maintaining pluripotent stem cells due to their secretion of growth-supporting factors. Karyotype analysis confirms the chromosomal stability of BALB/c Mouse Cardiac Myocytes at early passages. Importantly, MEFs are genetically stable at early passages and should not be passaged extensively to avoid senescence. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

BALB/c Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts are widely used in stem cell research, especially as feeder cells for embryonic or induced pluripotent stem cells. They are also employed in studies of cellular senescence, gene editing, and transgenic mouse model development, serving as a reliable platform for basic and translational research. Moreover, MEFs secrete essential extracellular matrix components and soluble factors that promote stem cell self-renewal and pluripotency maintenance. Their responsiveness to oxidative stress and DNA damage makes them useful for investigating cellular aging and genome stability mechanisms.
