Description

BALB/c Mouse Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells are primary endothelial cells derived from the microvasculature of lung tissue in BALB/c mice (Mus musculus). These cells line the alveolar capillaries and play vital roles in maintaining the pulmonary blood-air barrier, regulating vascular tone, and orchestrating immune responses. In culture, BALB/c Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells exhibit a cobblestone morphology characteristic of endothelial cells and express key markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1), VE-cadherin, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and endoglin (CD105). They also demonstrate functional attributes including tube formation and VEGF-dependent activation (e.g., VEGFR2 phosphorylation). Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • BALB/c Mouse Lung Microvascular Endothelial Cells serve as a powerful in vitro model for exploring the cellular and molecular mechanisms that regulate pulmonary microcirculation and barrier integrity. They provide a relevant platform for evaluating the vascular response to pro-inflammatory cytokines, hypoxia, oxidative stress, and infectious agents such as respiratory viruses. Furthermore, their responsiveness to angiogenic and anti-angiogenic compounds makes them suitable for drug screening and angiogenesis assays.
