Bovine hepatocytes, 4-week bovine.
Bovine Hepatocytes are primarily derived from bovine liver tissue, and they are the major parenchymal cells of the liver. They exhibit morphological characteristics such as a polygonal or irregular shape, with abundant cytoplasm that often contains a large number of glycogen granules. In vitro culture reveals that bovine hepatocytes adhere to the culture surface during growth. Bovine hepatocytes play a pivotal role in xenobiotic metabolism, lipid and glucose homeostasis, as well as the detoxification process. They are capable of expressing cytochrome P450 enzymes, including members of the CYP1 family (e.g., CYP1A1, CYP1B1) and the CYP3A family (e.g., CYP3A74), which participate in the metabolism of various endogenous and exogenous compounds. These cells provide a platform for examining bovine liver enzyme activity and bovine hepatocyte experimental models in vitro. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Bovine Hepatocytes can be used to study the hepatotoxicity mechanisms of environmental pollutants and chemical substances, which helps to understand the modes and degrees of liver damage caused by these substances. In addition, bovine hepatocytes are widely used in liver disease research. They can be employed to establish disease models for investigating the occurrence and developmental mechanisms of liver disorders. They also serve as a platform for screening and evaluating novel therapeutic drugs and approaches, providing scientific support for the prevention and treatment of liver diseases.
