C57BL/6 mouse kidney endothelial cells (MKIEC) are isolated from tissue of pathogen-free laboratory mice.
C57BL/6 Mouse Kidney Endothelial Cells are primary cells isolated from the kidney tissue of pathogen-free laboratory mice, serving as a vital model for investigating mouse blood filtration function. These cells reside exclusively in the renal vasculature, specifically within glomerular capillaries, peritubular capillaries, and renal arterioles/venules of the kidney cortex and medulla. Following primary culture, these cells are cryopreserved. The cells perform essential physiological functions such as regulating vascular permeability, facilitating immune cell trafficking, and maintaining glomerular filtration via fenestrated capillary integrity. Studies have demonstrated their involvement in diabetic nephropathy, thrombotic microangiopathy, hypertensive nephrosclerosis, and renal allograft rejection. Phenotypic validation is confirmed through the endothelial markers including VE-cadherin, von Willebrand factor (vWF), and CD31/PECAM-1. For optimal experimental results, repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

C57BL/6 Mouse Kidney Endothelial Cells can be used as an in vitro model to study the pathogenesis of renal microvascular disorders in disease conditions such as thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) and diabetic nephropathy. The cells enable researchers to elucidate critical disease mechanisms including glomerular capillary occlusion and thrombosis in thrombotic microangiopathy, glycocalyx destruction and increased vascular permeability in diabetic nephropathy, and disruption of podocyte-endothelial crosstalk in proteinuric diseases.
