Canine Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells ,primary canine smooth muscle cells for vascular biology, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiovascular research.
Canine Pulmonary Artery Smooth Muscle Cells (CnPASMC) are primary cells isolated from the tunica intima and tunica media layers of healthy pathogen-free canine pulmonary arteries using enzymatic digestion techniques. CnPASMC exhibit a classic spindle-shaped morphology and express smooth muscle-specific markers such as α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) and SM22α, verified by immunofluorescence staining. Cells retain functional characteristics of vascular smooth muscle, including contractility and responsiveness to vasoactive stimuli such as endothelin-1 or angiotensin II, making them a robust model for canine pulmonary vascular smooth muscle. Karyotype analysis confirms chromosomal integrity, and donor animals are confirmed free of cardiovascular or systemic disease. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thawcycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

CnPASMC are an ideal model for studying pulmonary vascular diseases, including pulmonary arterial hypertension in dogs, arterial remodeling, and smooth muscle contractility. They are frequently used in drug screening, signal transduction research, and investigating vascular tone regulation and extracellular matrix deposition. These cells also serve for translational research focused on canine respiratory health, veterinary cardiology, and cross-species vascular biology.
