Astrocytes are the majority cell type of the mammalian brain.
CD1 Mouse Astrocytes-Brain are primary glial cells isolated from the cerebral cortex of healthy CD1 mice both sexes included, pathogen-free with no neurological disease history. These astrocytes represent the predominant cell type in the mammalian CNS and exhibit characteristic star-shaped morphology when cultured. They express astrocyte markers and are suitable for studies on CD1 mouse neural biology, including neuroinflammation, neurodegeneration, and central nervous system (CNS) modeling. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thawcycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

CD1 Mouse Astrocytes-Brain are widely used as an in vitro model to study astrocyte functions in neural support, synaptic modulation, and CNS homeostasis. They support assays including calcium imaging, cytokine secretion profiling, gene and protein expression analysis via RT-PCR and Western blotting, and immunocytochemistry. Researchers utilize these astrocytes to explore CNS pathophysiology, neural repair mechanisms, and CD1 mouse brain tissue studies, as well as for screening neuroprotective or neurotoxic compounds in drug discovery.
