Cyanine 7 (Cy7) is a chemically synthesized polymethine dye, suitable for labeling biomolecules such as peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids.
Cyanine 7 (Cy7) is a chemically synthesized polymethine dye belonging to the cyanine fluorescent dye family. Cyanine dyes are available in non-sulfonated and sulfonated forms, which exhibit nearly identical spectral properties and can be used interchangeably in most applications, including the labeling of biomolecules such as DNA and proteins. The key advantage of sulfonated cyanines is their excellent water solubility, which eliminates the need for organic cosolvents in aqueous labeling reactions and minimizes dye aggregation, thereby improving labeling efficiency. The Cy7 NHS ester contains an N-hydroxysuccinimide–activated group that reacts efficiently with amino groups on biomolecules, particularly primary amines, forming stable amide bonds for covalent labeling of peptides, proteins, and nucleic acids.

Cy7 NHS Ester is a water-soluble, near-IR fluorescent dye that efficiently labels proteins and other amine-containing molecules, producing bright signals without self-quenching. This Cy7 is provided as a sulfonated, water-soluble dye with near-IR excitation and emission. It displays bright fluorescence, high photostability, and minimal sensitivity to pH, making it suitable for fluorescence imaging and other fluorescence-based biological analyses.
