Description

Glucagon receptor (GCGR) is a 62 kDa protein activated by glucagon, belonging to the B class G protein-coupled receptor family. GCGR is mainly expressed in the liver and kidneys. Activation of GCGR by glucagon leads to binding with heterotrimeric Gs (αβγ), inducing adenylyl cyclase activation, increasing cellular cAMP levels. cAMP activates PKA, leading to phosphorylation of transcriptional regulatory proteins and their translocation to the nucleus. Amino Acid Sequence GCGR Reporter CHO-K1 Cell Line is a luciferase reporter cell line based on the GCGR signaling pathway. Upon binding of glucagon to its receptor GCGR, the association with heterotrimeric Gs (αβγ) induces adenylyl cyclase activation, increasing cellular cAMP levels. cAMP activation of PKA leads to the phosphorylation of transcriptional regulatory proteins, activating the expression of luciferase. Luciferase readings reflect the activation effect of the signaling pathway, making it useful for evaluating the in vitro effects of GCGR-related drugs.
