H-4-II-E is a rat hepatoma cell line ideal for detecting environmental toxins, AHH activity, and liver enzyme induction in toxicology and food safety.
H-4-II-E is a rat hepatocellular carcinoma cell line derived from the H4II (Reuber H‑35) lineage, originally established from the liver of a male rat. The cells exhibit epithelial morphology and grow adherently in monolayer culture. Although detailed chromosomal analysis is lacking, the line retains genomic instability characteristic of hepatocellular carcinoma. H-4-II-E expresses high aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase activity and functional CYP1A enzymes, making it valuable for xenobiotic metabolism and environmental toxin bioassays. Tumorigenicity and metastatic potential in vivo have not been clearly documented in the literature. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

H-4-II-E cells (H-4-II-E rat hepatoma cells) are valuable in hepatic function studies, drug metabolism, and liver cancer research. Their expression of key metabolic enzymes allows detailed examination of liver-specific pathways, including phase I and II enzyme activities. H-4-II-E cells also support investigations into hepatocarcinogenesis, making them useful in both basic research and pharmaceutical screening platforms.
