Epitheloid carcinoma, cervix.
HeLa-229 is a human cervical adenocarcinoma cell line derived from the parental HeLa lineage. This cell line can readily adapt to suspension culture. It exhibits relative resistance to poliovirus and demonstrates cytokeratin positivity by immunoperoxidase staining. It is widely used in microbiological and intracellular pathogen research. Due to its well-characterized response to infection and stable cell cycle profile, it has become a preferred model for host-pathogen interaction studies, antibiotic response assays, and cellular immunology applications. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

HeLa 229 cell line is widely used in microbiology and host-pathogen research, particularly for studying poliovirus resistance mechanisms and epithelial cell response mechanisms. Their stable cell cycle and keratin-positive phenotype also enable their use in diagnostic assay development, virology screening, and exploration of epithelial biology under stress and infectious conditions. Their consistent adherence and uniform growth in culture further support reliable high-throughput experimentation in these research areas.
