This cell line is derived from a male donor diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C, a genetic disorder that causes accumulation of cholesterol in the cells and leads to neurodegenerative symptoms. The donor exhibited clinical features such as splenomegaly and supranuclear palsy. These cells are valuable for modeling disease progression and screening for therapeutic agents to treat Niemann-Pick Type C.
