HS-683 is a human glioma cell line widely used for modeling glial tumor biology, drug screening, and nervous system tumor therapeutic response.
HS-683 is a human glioma cell line established from an explant culture of a glioma obtained from the left temporal lobe of a male. The cells exhibit glial morphology and grow as an adherent monolayer, and may form neurosphere-like aggregates under specific culture conditions. This is a hypertriploid human cell line with a modal chromosome number of 82, present in 16% of cells, with a distribution skewed toward lower chromosome counts. A higher ploidy level is observed in 3.0% of cells. HS-683 is non-tumorigenic in immunodeficient mice. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

HS-683 human glioma cell line, also known as HS-683 brain cancer cells, provides an ideal tool for studying glioma cell signaling, gene regulation, and brain tumor progression, and is particularly useful in neuro-oncology research aimed at exploring glioma heterogeneity, resistance to chemotherapeutics, and potential targets for novel central nervous system (CNS)-directed therapies. These cells also support functional genomics and high-throughput drug screening.
