Description

Human Glial Progenitor Cells (A2B5+) are spindle-shaped, adherent progenitor cells isolated from healthy donor human brain. These bipotential glial-restricted progenitors (GRPs) express A2B5 on their surface and can be expanded in serum-free medium with bFGF, retaining proliferation capacity and differentiating into both oligodendrocytes and astrocytes. A2B5+ cells are capable of long-term culture, self-renewal, and standard downstream applications including in vitro, in vivo, and transplantation studies. Their stable phenotype, high purity, and developmental potential make them reliable models in neurodevelopment and glial biology. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures and is tested to ensure it is free from contamination by HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • A2B5+ progenitor cells serve as essential tools for investigating glial lineage development, enabling differentiation into oligodendrocytes and astrocytes for studies on myelination, neuroprotection, and gliogenesis. They are useful in disease modeling and transplantation research targeting demyelinating diseases, gliomas, and neural repair, offering insights into glioma stem-like cell behavior. These cells are also valuable platforms for drug screening, gene-editing studies, and cell therapy applications due to their high purity, expandability, and defined glial potential.
