Description

Human Intestinal Mesenteric Vascular Endothelial Cells (HIMVECs) are isolated from adult human intestinal mesenteric vasculature. Morphologically, HIMVECs exhibit a cobblestone-like appearance under light microscopy. They are critical for maintaining vascular integrity, regulating blood flow, and facilitating nutrient exchange within the intestinal vasculature. They regulate vascular permeability, immune cell trafficking, and hemostasis while responding to inflammatory and hypoxic stimuli. These cells express the endothelial marker CD31. To ensure the quality of these primary cells, repeated freeze-thaw cycles are not recommended due to the fragile nature of these cells. The cells are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, syphilis, mycoplasma, fungi, yeast, and bacteria.

Application

  • Human Intestinal Mesenteric Vascular Endothelial Cells have significant applications in biomedical research, particularly in studying intestinal vascular biology, inflammation, and disease mechanisms. Due to their role in regulating vascular permeability, immune response, and angiogenesis, they are widely used in in vitro models to investigate inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), mesenteric ischemia, and colorectal cancer progression. These cells help elucidate how endothelial dysfunction contributes to disease pathology, including leukocyte recruitment, thrombosis, and impaired blood flow.
