Explore Human Mesothelial Cells, Adult, Single Donor to study peritoneal inflammation, cancer invasion, and fibrosis-related mesothelial responses.
Human Mesothelial Cells, Adult, Single Donor are isolated from omental tissue biopsies of a single clinically screened adult donor, providing a genetically consistent primary cell model. These cells exhibit characteristic cobblestone epithelial morphology and grow as adherent monolayers. The cells maintain critical physiological properties, including essential barrier functions supported by hyaluronan secretion and providing friction-reducing surfaces for organs. Cryopreserved at early passage to preserve genetic integrity, they enable precise modeling of peritoneal dialysis complications and post-surgical adhesion formation. These mesothelial cells express mesothelial markers calretinin and podoplanin (D2-40). As primary cells, they possess limited proliferative capacity and cannot undergo long-term expansion. Repeated freezing and thawing should be avoided during culture. The cells undergo rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and are rigorously tested to ensure they are free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Human Mesothelial Cells from a Single Donor serve as a genetically consistent in vitro model to study donor-specific serosal pathologies such as peritoneal dialysis-induced fibrosis and post-surgical adhesions. Their genetic consistency allows for precise investigation of mesothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (MMT), glycocalyx degradation, and aberrant collagen deposition. The model enables personalized screening of anti-fibrotic agents and novel biomaterials.
