Description

Human Prostate Microvascular Endothelial Cells (HPrMECs) are primary vascular endothelial cells derived from normal human prostate microvasculature. Following dissociation and purification, HPrMECs display the classic endothelial cobblestone morphology. They express endothelial markers such as CD31 (PECAM-1) and von Willebrand Factor (vWF). Functionality validated for VEGF-A responsiveness, HPrMECs demonstrate physiologically relevant angiogenic capacity, making them particularly suitable for studying neovascular remodeling. These cells are cryopreserved at an early passage, ensuring retention of in vivo–like phenotype. As non-immortalized primary cells, HPrMECs have limited replicative potential and are not intended for long-term passaging. Each lot undergoes rigorous screening and isolation procedures, and is rigorously tested to ensure it is free of contamination from HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Syphilis, Mycoplasma, Fungi, Yeast, and Bacteria.

Application

  • HPrMECs offer a physiologically relevant model for prostate-specific vascular studies, including angiogenesis assays, vessel permeability measurements, and investigations of endothelial-tumor interactions. Researchers leverage these cells to investigate endothelial responses to prostatic cancer-derived factors like IL 6 and VEGF-A. They are excellent for screening angiogenesis inhibitors, evaluating barrier integrity, and exploring microvascular contributions to prostate cancer progression and metastasis.
